Looks like I’m going to have to hand over the title of “Buffalo Dandy” to young Shelden Gibbs, the 11 year old CEO and Founder of Classic Knot. This Buffalo-based entrepreneur has been handcrafting his own line of custom bow ties since May 2016 with no signs of slowing down. Under the watchful eye of his mom, Shelden selects his own fabrics and makes all the ties himself. He also offers matching neck tie and pocket square combos which he sells at trade shows and online via his website.

Big props to this stylish young Dandy for making some truly handsome neckwear and we wish him luck in his endeavor of “creating style that makes statements”. Visit his online shop at classicknot.com and check out some of our favorite ties below. Keep up the great work Shelden!

MrNiceTie1

It’s been quite a while since we featured some new Bow Ties for Bow Tie Friday, and I think you’d be hard pressed to find a nicer selection that the ones from NBA star Chris Bosh’s latest line of ties humorously called Mr. Nice Tie. Partnering with Armstrong & Wilson, Bosh’s collection looks very dandy indeed. Subtle, classic fabrics with just the right hint of colors. Perfect for Fall, I also love the signature button on the back of the ties. While they may be bit pricier than your average ties, for true fans of Bosh and fine craftsmanship, the price may very well be justified. Comprised of 5 neck ties and 5 bow ties, you can shop the entire collection here.

2GuysGiveaway

The Dandy folks over at Two Guys Bow Ties have been kind enough to host a giveaway contest on Buffalo Dandy that you won’t want to pass up. Makers of the iconic wooden bow tie, the company’s latest endeavor is into the world of lapel flowers, which I’ve been wearing more and more myself. AntiqueWorld3
[photos by Katie Ambrose]

One of my favorite weekend activities is heading out to Antique World in Clarence and sifting through the treasure trove of vintage goodness. Last Fall and the family and I took a trip out there to do a photoshoot with Visit Buffalo Niagara and I finally got my hands on some of the photos from that day. Easily two of my favorite shots are the ones below when we found this incredible Buffalo Sabres hockey game and showing Dandy Jr. how awesome the toys were back in my day.

LVJBowTies

Canadien-based LVJ Haberdasher is quickly becoming one of my favorite purveyors of neckwear. The use of materials and colors alone make it clear why I’m so enamored with them, what with their tweeds and plaids everywhere. Recently, they’ve launched a new collection of signature bow ties which prominently feature their logo of a majestic stag wearing a bow tie. Comprised of premium English silk twill, the fabric has an amazing texture to it and are handmade in the U.S.A. More importantly, though, is that it’s a bow tie with a deer wearing a bow tie on it… What more do you need?

$94

UPDATE: Follow LVJ on Instagram for a chance to win one of these beauties! The winner will be announced Tuesday, November 5th.

BD_BowTies

Over the last few months I’ve been toying with the idea of selling my handmade bow ties online. I decided this Bow Tie Friday was as good a time as any to officially announce the launch of my Buffalo Dandy Bow Tie Shop. All ties are hand-made by Buffalo Dandy, self tying, with a detachable rear clip for easy removal once the tie has been tied. Check out the entire collection here, as well my top 5 favorites below. As of right now, ties are one of kind. So once this initial collection is gone, it’s gone. Prices range from $40-$45 depending on materials. A very happy Bow Tie Friday, indeed!

I had the pleasure of meeting Justin from King Kravate at Buffalo Fashion Week. A dapper gent wearing not only a handsome bow tie, but a great looking lapel flower as well. Check out his site and also be sure to check out his other offerings like the above knit flower pins, pocket squares and more. For Fall, I would have to go with the Mario which is currently on sale. LordWallington

While it would be nicer if it were actual leather, the Faux Leather Bow Tie from Lord Wallington looks pretty stellar. Perfectly rustic, this looks like something that would be casually hanging around Ralph Lauren’s Ranch. Be sure to check out the rest of Lord Wallington’s site for some great looking ties, pocket squares and an array of great vintage products. Happy Bow Tie Friday, everyone.
